👉🧨💣🎉🔥💥 We are delighted to announce that yesterday, with our participation, a Mass Transit Transaction (MTT – Visa) / Pay-as-You-Go (PaYG – Mastercard) solution was launched in the City of Białystok.

This means that Białystok has become the first city in Poland to implement an intelligent fare settlement system in which the optimal fare is calculated automatically and charged to the passenger’s payment card account only after the end of the settlement day.

The final amount is calculated by PIXEL’s fare system based on the number and duration of journeys, as well as the fare zones in which passengers boarded and exited buses during the settlement day. Passengers using the BKM Smart Fare do not need to know which fare option is the most advantageous for them — the system determines it automatically.

How does the Smart Fare work? Immediately after boarding a BKM bus, the passenger simply taps a 💳 contactless payment card, ⌚️ smartwatch or 📱 smartphone with contactless payments enabled on the payment card reader in the ticket vending machine, without selecting any options on the screen.

As soon as the card is detected, the device displays the message: “Entry registered.” When the passenger is about to leave the vehicle, they repeat the same action by tapping the same payment card or device on the contactless reader. The system then displays: “Exit registered.”

If the passenger does not register their exit, the final fare will be calculated as if they had travelled to the end of the route.

Our responsibilities in the project included developing a tailor-made fare solution integrated with the systems of the payment operator/acquirer (ACQ – Bank Pekao S.A.), as well as integrating it with Beesset’s existing systems 💻 — the SECAM electronic ticketing system, the passenger portal www.ekarta.bialystok.pl, and the INSPEKTOR ticket inspection application.
